Isaiah 8:11-13 (ESV): “11 For the Lord spoke thus to me with his strong hand upon me, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying: 12 “Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. 13 But the Lord of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.”
The world walks in hearsay and fear when uncertainty strikes. But Christians walk by faith. We serve an all-knowing God who is for us. He is the only One we should fear. So walk by faith, not by sight.
Isaiah lived in a tumultuous time. Judah was about to be attacked by Israel and Syria, while also facing the growing threat of the Assyrians. It was war on every side. Rumors and conspiracies ran rampant. Yet God told Isaiah—and the people of Judah—not to walk in the ways of the world, but to look to Him. He is in control, and He alone is to be feared.
How do you respond to FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt)? Do you follow the ways of the world or walk by faith? We know how the story ends. We can trust that whatever God allows, He will work out for our good (Romans 8:28). He is enough. Fear God and walk by faith. You have nothing to worry about—you are in His hands. Amen?
Father, thank You for reassuring us in times of doubt. Thank You for giving us Your Spirit to guide us through difficult days. Help us to press in always and walk by faith. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
