Joshua 24:15

Joshua 24:15 (ESV): “…choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Everyone serves someone. The question isn't whether you will serve but who you serve. You have a choice to serve the Lord God Almighty or the evil one. Your lifestyle declares who you are following.

After a long time of being in the Promised Land, Joshua had grown old and was about to be laid to rest. He gathered the leaders of Israel together and recounted the great things God had done in delivering them from their enemies. He also reiterated the responsibility of every individual to put away idols and serve the Lord. They had a choice in the matter but if they chose false gods they would reap the consequences. Joshua made it clear that he and his house will serve the Lord.

Whom are you serving? Are you serving the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob or a false god? The Lord has given us free will to serve whom we desire. By default, we serve the evil one. We can tell who we are serving by observing our lifestyle. If you find that you are serving a false god of sorts, repent and turn back to the Lord. If you are serving the Lord then be faithful to walk in His ways. The choice is yours to make, so choose wisely!

Father, thank You for allowing us to serve You.

May we choose this day to serve You all the days of our lives. Keep our lives pure and our hearts faithful that You would be seen by all as our God we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
