Joshua 4:5-7

Joshua 4:5–7 (ESV): 5 And Joshua said to them, “Pass on before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take up each of you a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, 6 that this may be a sign among you. When your children ask in time to come, ‘What do those stones mean to you?’ 7 then you shall tell them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial forever.”

Setting up a means of remembrance of the great things God has done in your life is not only personally beneficial but also encouraging to future generations. Make sure to refresh yourself and share your God stories with others!

Joshua instructed twelve men selected from the twelve tribes of Israel to carry stones across the Jordan to set up a memorial to not only remind those who crossed but also speak to future generations of the great things God has done. They were to stack the stones in a pile as a sign of the miraculous crossing!

When was the last time you took a moment to remember all the great things God has done in your life? We don't live in the past, but we certainly use our past God stories to encourage ourselves and others in our present circumstances. Write your stories down and share them. Don't conceal but reveal these things to the glory of our great King!

Father, You have done so many great things in our lives that are worth sharing. Help us to write these things down and share them with others. You deserve all the fame and glory in Jesus' name, amen.
