Leviticus 25:11–12 (ESV): “11 That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of itself nor gather the grapes from the undressed vines. 12 For it is a jubilee. It shall be holy to you. You may eat the produce of the field.”
Trusting God is a growing process. He gives us specific opportunities to grow our faith so we can trust in Him all the more. This will require us to rest completely in His capable hand.
God instructed Moses to tell the people when they came into the Promised Land that they must give the land rest every seventh year and two years rest every forty-ninth year. This seventh, seven-year Sabbath was called the year of Jubilee which means “rams horn” and is a reference to the blowing of the shofar. On the tenth day of the seventh month, which was the Day of Atonement, the shofar was to be blown and this would start the opportunity to grow by trusting God to provide from a land that has not been worked with human hands.
In what ways is God allowing you to grow in trusting Him more? It could be financial or physical circumstances that at face value don't appear to have your best interest in mind. However, growth requires pain. The year of Jubilee wasn't fun but it was beneficial. The same holds true for your circumstances. Trust God. Make your problems His problem. He is the greatest provider in the history of the world. Trust Him in all things and you’ll be amazed at the peace that comes as a result.
Father, we thank You for growing us daily. Forgive us for failing to trust You at times. You are trustworthy in all things so help us to trust You always we pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
