Matthew 19:13-14 (ESV): “13 Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray•. The disciples rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.””
Followers of Jesus are to bring people to Christ, not push them away. The Lord loves every human being on the planet. There isn’t a single person He doesn’t want to save. May that be our heart.
After Jesus left Galilee for Judea, large crowds followed Him. His disciples began to act as crowd control. In their efforts to protect Jesus, they tried to keep the children from coming to Him, as if they had no business being ministered to. Jesus rebuked them and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven!”
Have you ever hindered anyone from coming to Jesus? There isn’t a single person on the planet we shouldn’t desire to see come to Jesus. That is impossible apart from the Spirit. We could never love certain sinners or desire to reach them with the gospel without God filling us with His love. Die to self, yield to the Spirit, and you will never have to worry about hindering anyone. Amen.
Father, we want to be the best representatives we can be for Your glory. Fill us with Your Spirit and give us Your heart for lost people, we pray in Jesus name. Amen.
