Matthew 4:12-13

Matthew 4:12-13 (ESV):12 Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. 13 And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled…”

Life is full of twists and turns. However, our God is in control of them all. He allows only that which will shape us. You can trust Him at every turn.

Forty or so days after Jesus was baptized, John the Baptist was arrested for speaking the truth about the scandalous relationship between Herod Antipas and his brother Philip’s ex-wife, Herodias. This pushed Jesus into the region of Galilee, where His earthly ministry would begin. It was part of the prophetic plan for Jesus, which was fulfilled by John’s arrest. From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Did you know that God uses all kinds of things to move His children from one place to another? He even uses tragedy and misfortune to steer His children to the places He desires for them. When the next twist or turn comes your way, look up, for your Father is leading you. He wants you to move in some way. Keep your ear open, for He will instruct you according to His plan. Remember, everything has a purpose!

Father, have Your way in our lives. Keep us in a place of faith at every twist and turn that occurs. You are trustworthy, so help us move where You lead. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
