Matthew 9:37-38

Matthew 9:37-38 (ESV):37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

The world is ripe for the gospel, but how will they hear unless someone is sent? That someone is you! Go, therefore, and make disciples.

Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel. When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He healed their sick and afflicted. Then He turned to His disciples and explained that the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. He told them to pray earnestly that the Lord would send out laborers into His harvest. And if they listened closely, they would hear, “I am sending you.”

Did you know that you are the laborer you are praying God would send? If you are a believer, you have been sent into the harvest to proclaim the gospel and make disciples. The world is as harassed and helpless as ever, and Jesus is still the only solution. So go into all the world and proclaim hope through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. You have the words of life, Christian—so proclaim them. Amen?

Father, we thank You for Your grace and goodness. We pray that You would send more laborers into the harvest. We are available and ready—so send us, we pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
