Numbers 35:1–3 (ESV): “The Lord spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying, 2 “Command the people of Israel to give to the Levites some of the inheritance of their possession as cities for them to dwell in. And you shall give to the Levites pasturelands around the cities. 3 The cities shall be theirs to dwell in, and their pasturelands shall be for their cattle and for their livestock and for all their beasts.”
God is the provider of all for all. He gives generously to His children and His servants. Never forget that what we are given belongs to Him. We must be willing to give back as He wills. Hold everything loosely and be generous like He is!
As God was instructing Moses regarding the inheritance of the land in Canaan, He commanded that all the tribes of Israel give cities and pasture land to the Levites, for their inheritance was God Himself. The Lord was asking for a portion to be given back to His servants so they would be provided for. God could have provided in other ways for the Levites but there is a lesson in this offering for everyone!
How do you hold on to the resources God has given you? Are you tight-gripped or do you loosely hold your resources as a steward should? Being a giver involves obedience and representation. It's ultimately a heart issue. Our God is generous and He expects His children to be the same. Don't allow your resources to have a hold on you. Hold them loosely and give generously as the Lord instructs and you will be greatly blessed!
Father, thank You for all that You have provided for me. Help me to be generous and freely give all that I have received. It's all Yours so use them as You please I pray in Jesus' name, amen and amen!
