Psalm 27:14

Psalm 27:14 (ESV):”14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”

The most difficult endeavor for mankind is that of waiting. Many mistake the idea of waiting as being inactive, but that is a misconception. We ought to be actively seeking God while remaining patient for His will to be revealed. God will move in His timing; we simply need to actively wait on Him.

David knew what it meant to wait on God. From an early age, David learned the valuable lesson of waiting on Him. From the sheep fields to the battlefield, the king’s quarters to the caves of Ein Gedi, David actively pursued God to reveal His will. He had an opportunity to slay Saul in a cave, yet David waited on God. He didn’t seek his own will but the Father’s will. Waiting on God made David a man who was strong and courageous.

Have you learned to wait on the Lord? Are you actively seeking Him? Spurgeon said it like this: “Wait at his door with prayer; wait at his foot with humility; wait at his table with service; wait at his window with expectancy.” Are you waiting? What I know is that God is faithful to teach us how to wait. It is His means of making us more dependent upon Him. Don’t grow weary while you are waiting. Be patient, for in the end, it will make you strong and courageous for the things He has in store for you. Wait on God.

Father, we thank You for training our hearts to wait on You. Help us grow more comfortable in the waiting, as we know You are refining us in the process. Reveal Your will to us in Your timing, we pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
