Zechariah 11:12-13

Zechariah 11:12-13 (ESV): 12 Then I said to them, “If it seems good to you, give me my wages; but if not, keep them.” And they weighed out as my wages thirty pieces of silver. 13 Then the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—the lordly price at which I was priced by them. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the Lord, to the potter.

The Son of God paid the ransom for your sin with His life. Meanwhile, His life was valued at only thirty pieces of silver. He values you more than you will ever know.

Zechariah is given a vision of two staffs named “Favor” and “Union.” He broke the staff called Favor as a sign that God would allow Israel to be attacked and overtaken. Then, just before breaking the second staff, Union—which annulled the brotherhood between Israel and Judah—Zechariah asked for his wages. He was paid thirty pieces of silver, the lowest price that could be paid for a slave. It was a prophetic picture of the price placed on Jesus’ life.

So what is your life worth? It is priceless in God’s eyes. We know this because Jesus’ life was priceless, even though it was valued by man at the minimum price of a slave. If you don’t feel like you’re worth anything, then you haven’t fully comprehended the worth of Jesus. The priceless life of Christ was given on your behalf. Consider your worth today, and live a life worthy of that worth. He gave His life for you, so in turn, you can give your life to Him. Amen?

Father, how infinitely worthy is the life of Your Son. Help us to see, through His offering, Your great value for us. Take our lives and use them however You will, we pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
