1 Chronicles 11:10

1 Chronicles 11:10 (ESV): “10 Now these are the chiefs of David’s mighty men, who gave him strong support in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.”

God uses very normal means to elevate His anointed.  David became great because God surrounded him with valiant men who fought for him.  He could have never become who he was without the help of others.

After Saul died, David was anointed King of Israel by the elders at Hebron. Then David and all of Israel went to Jerusalem and took it from the Jebusites.  Joab, the chief of the thirty, earned this position as leader by striking the Jebusites first.  David also had three mighty warriors on his side, Jashobeam, Eleazar, and Shammah.  These three, among many others, were the means God used to make David great.  He would have never become as great as he did on his own.

Are you doing life alone?  God is faithful to surround you with people who will fight for you.  That is how God works.  He gives us all that we need for life and godliness.  Most of the time, that comes in the form of people. God knows we need tangible help, so He surrounds us with people who will encourage and exhort us to greatness.  Don't walk alone.  Look for the spiritual warriors God has placed in your life and walk with them.  It’s God’s means of provision.

Father,  we thank You for surrounding us with people who are meant to do life with us.  Help us to walk with those You’ve put in our lives so we can become who You are calling us to be, we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
