1 Chronicles 14:11

Writer: Tim RomeroTim Romero

1 Chronicles 14:11 (ESV): “11 And he went up to Baal-perazim, and David struck them down there. And David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand, like a bursting flood.” Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.”

God is the God of breakthroughs.  Our job is to seek and depend on Him.  He will do the rest!

When the Philistines heard that David was anointed King of Israel, they gathered their armies and made a raid in the Valley of Rephaim, which is a modern-day suburb of Jerusalem.  David didn't assume he should go to war with them, he inquired of God.  The Lord replied, “Go up, and I will give them into your hand.”  David did as the Lord instructed, and the Philistines were given into his hand.   David named that place, Baal-perazim, which means, “Lord of breaking through.”

Are you in need of a breakthrough today?  You're in luck because your God is the Lord of breakthroughs.  What you must do is seek Him to know how the breakthrough will come.  David didn't dare battle without God’s instruction.  We must do the same.  Inquire of the Lord and ask how you should battle your circumstances, and then walk accordingly.   Sometimes, the Lord will say to stand still, other times He will say to advance against the enemy.   Seek His instruction and then trust Him for the breakthrough.  Amen?

Father, we thank You for being so good to us.  You owe us nothing, and yet You give us everything.  Lead us to victory today, as we seek Your face, we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
