1 Chronicles 15:13–14 (ESV): “13 Because you did not carry it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not seek him according to the rule.” 14 So the priests and the Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel.”
Doing it God’s way is the best way. Anytime we try to do life any other way, we end up outside the will of God. Just surrender to His plan, lest you be found kicking against the goads.
After some time, David decided to bring the Ark to Jerusalem from Obed-edom, where he left it after Uzza died. However, this time, David decided to bring it up to Jerusalem God’s way. He assembled the Levites and then asked them to consecrate themselves in preparation for carrying the Ark. This was God’s way of moving the Ark. The Levites were to carry it. David surrendered to God’s way, and the Ark was brought safely to Jerusalem.
Are you tired of kicking against the goads? Only you can stop it. All you have to do is surrender to God’s way for your life. It’s that simple. It doesn't mean life gets easier, but it will change how you enjoy your life. If you are lacking direction and peace today give up your ways. Decide to do it God’s way, and you will see how much things change. Give it a try, and you’ll experience what David experienced. Forget Sinatra! Do it God’s way! Amen?
Father, we thank you for giving us direction and guidance to do things Your way. We desire to stop the madness and follow You completely, Lord. Direct our steps we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
