1 Kings 1:5 (ESV): 5 Now Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king.” And he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
Life is full of schemers. There will always be someone attempting to take advantage of you. That’s why it's important to walk in the Spirit. He will reveal the truth to us. Pay attention to the still small voice!
When David was near death, Adonijah, the son of Haggith, exalted himself. He was preparing to take the throne of David. You might recall that God’s promise to David was that the throne would never depart from his household. Thus, God sent Nathan to reveal this scheme of the devil. When David was informed he took action by anointing Solomon as king of Israel. God showed up in this moment to reveal the truth.
Are you sensitive to the still small voice? The Lord is faithful to reveal the schemes of the enemy. The question is, are we in tune to hear Him? If you are not hearing from Him examine your heart. Perhaps you have grieved the Spirit. Ask the Lord to show you if there is any wicked way in you. Secondly, consider whether or not you are giving Him room to speak into your life. Jesus got alone with God often. Lastly, are you walking in obedience when He does speak? The Lord is faithful to guide us, may we not miss it.
Father, we thank You for speaking into our lives. Help us to not miss Your still small voice. Keep our ears sensitive and our hearts soft to You always we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
