1 Samuel 13:13-14 (ESV): “13 And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the command of the Lord your God, with which he commanded you. For then the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. 14 But now your kingdom shall not continue.”
It is not a small thing to disobey the Lord. We will not lose our salvation, but God will strip us of our blessing. He is faithful to keep His promises, both conditional and unconditional.
Saul and the people of Israel were instructed by Samuel to obey the voice of God. His commands were conditional promises to them. If they obeyed His voice then they would experience His blessing. If they didn't, they would be stripped of their blessing. Saul chose to disobey the Lord by making an unlawful sacrifice when the people of Israel assembled to go up against the Philistines. He violated the conditional promise of God and thus his kingdom was stripped from him. The Lord would give his throne to a man after His own heart.
Is your aim to do the will of the Father? Conditionally speaking, if we do, it will go well for us, for God promises to bless our obedience. If we decide to go our way, then we will experience the chastisement of God. These are conditional promises given to us. Walk obediently and be blessed. This is God’s heart for you and me. Obey His voice and be blessed!
Father, we thank You for all your promises. We pray that our hearts will be obedient to Your voice so that we will experience Your blessings all the days of our lives we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
