1 Samuel 18:14-16

1 Samuel 18:14–16 (ESV): “14 And David had success in all his undertakings, for the Lord was with him. 15 And when Saul saw that he had great success, he stood in fearful awe of him. 16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, for he went out and came in before them.”

Success isn't a happenstance. God chooses those He will use on purpose.  The key to being used is to have a loyal heart.  That kind of person never forgets that God is the hero of every story and that He alone deserves all the glory!

David had a loyal heart toward God and God used him mightily.  After he slays Goliath, David becomes a war hero in Israel. Thus, Saul grew fearful of David and hated him, for he knew that the Lord was with him.  After attempting to kill David, Saul removed him from his presence.  David continued to grow in success and was praised by the people of Israel.  However, David isn’t the hero of the story, God is.  David was just the vessel God used to show Himself strong.

Are you experiencing success in life?  If so, be quick to give God all the glory.  He is the way to your what. God is looking for loyal hearts to show Himself strong.  Be the kind of person God can use and elevate.  Be like David, who was quick to give God all the glory.  The Lord has something for you to succeed in.  So do it with all your heart and be quick to reflect the praise to Him.  Amen?

Father,  we thank You for being able to use broken vessels to accomplish Your purposes.  Use us, Lord!  We promise to give You all the glory in Jesus' name, amen.
