1 Samuel 30:6

1 Samuel 30:6 (ESV): “6 And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.”

True strength comes from God.  The psalmist Asaph said, “My heart and my flesh may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever (Ps 73:26).”  There is no one else that can strengthen us like the Lord!

Upon returning to Ziklag, David and his men found their homes burned and their families and possessions taken from them.   The Amalekites had raided them while they were assembling for battle with the Philistines.  David’s men were so upset with him that they considered stoning him.  In his time of need, David didn't look to any human agent for help but to God, and the Lord strengthened him.  He took six hundred men and pursued the Amalekites and overtook them.  They returned to Ziklag with all of their families and possessions.  The Lord provided all that they needed for victory.

Where do you run when you are feeling weak?   No human agent can provide the strength that you need.  We must look to the Lord, for He alone is our strength.  Only He can provide and equip us for the road ahead.  He is enough for us!  Look to the Lord and He too will provide you with the strength you need to obtain victory in your life.  Amen?

Father, we thank You for being all that we need in every situation in life.  Help us to always look to You alone.   You will give us what we need for victory.  You are our strength and portion forever, we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
