1 Samuel 8:7

1 Samuel 8:7 (ESV): 7 And the Lord said to Samuel, “Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.”

Rejecting the Lordship of God is the worst decision ever. God will allow us to do this, but He will also allow us to feel the repercussions of it. It's best to keep King Jesus Lord of your life.

After the Ark of God made its way back into the hands of the Israelites, they turned their hearts to idols and requested for a king to rule over them. The elders said to Samuel, “Behold, you are old and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint for us a king to judge us like all the nations.” Samuel took this request before God, and He said to him, “Obey their voice, but let them know it will not go well for them.” Samuel then warned the elders of the tyranny of a king, but they would not relent. So the Lord honored their request, and Saul became king of Israel. He was the people's king, not God’s!

Have you ever rejected the Lordship of Christ? You do so by desiring your will over His. He will allow you to do this, but it will never work out well for you. Our best life now is to live under the Lordship of Christ. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Why would you want someone else to rule over you? Stop lusting over what others have and be content with what God has given you. His will is better. Amen?

Father, we thank You for warning us of our wayward desires. You know better than us! So help us to stay surrendered to You and never trade Your Lordship for our own, we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
