2 Samuel 6:6-7

2 Samuel 6:6–7 (ESV): “6 And when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. 7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah, and God struck him down there because of his error, and he died there beside the ark of God.”

We should never disobey God for any reason.  Even if we are attempting to help Him out.  The Lord will care for Himself.  Be obedient to His commands above all.

After overcoming the Philistines, David decided to bring the Ark of God from Baale-judah to the city of David in Jerusalem.  David chose elite men who were not Levites to transport the ark, which was error number one.   They then built a cart and put the Ark on it, which was error number two (Ex 25:12-15).  When they came to the threshing floor of Nachon, the Ark started to tip and Uzzah put out his hand to help God, which was error number 3.  Uzzah died as a result for it was forbidden to touch the Ark (Num 4:15).

Do you disobey Scripture to help God out?  I remember a time when I stole the Book of Mormon from a hotel because I wanted to help God out by saving someone from being deceived.  I sinned in doing so.  God doesn't need us to help Him out this way.  Just be obedient to His Word and leave the rest to Him.  Amen?

Father,  we thank You for teaching us that it is better to obey rather than sinning to help You out.  May we choose obedience and leave the rest to You we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
