DAY 21 – THE RETURN OF CHRIST
“11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession who are zealous for good works.”
– Titus 2:13-14 –
Paul wrote of a mystery to a young man named Titus. He told Him that one day Jesus would be coming back and that we should eagerly be awaiting this “blessed hope”. As we wait in this manner, it would produce a lifestyle worthy of the Lord causing us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives. The anticipation of Christ’s return will keep us accountable to a lifestyle that glorifies God.
When Jesus comes, He will reign on this earth for one thousand years with a rod of iron. Everyone will know that He is Lord! Then the end will come, and He will judge the world and create a new heaven and a new earth. We know He is coming soon. May this motivate God’s people, as Paul said, to live lives worthy of the Gospel we’ve received.
Pray for believers to not grow weary of speaking and hearing of Christ’s return. Pray that if the Lord should tarry, we as His Church would be about His business spreading the Gospel with our lives first and then our lips. Pray we would present ourselves as a bride chastened and ready. May we be looking, not for the anti-Christ, but for Jesus Christ. Maranatha!
“Let us be alert to the season in which we are living. It is the season of the Blessed Hope, calling for us to cut our ties with the world and build ourselves on this One who will soon appear. He is our hope—a Blessed Hope enabling us to rise above our times and fix our gaze upon Him.”
