21 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Day 6

DAY 6 – DEPENDENCE

“I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.” – Psalm 16:8 –

One of the greatest deceptions in life is thinking we are walking in God’s blessing, when, in all actuality, we are walking in the deception of the enemy. That brings an entirely new meaning to the age-old adage “blessing in disguise.” Just because it seems successful on the outside doesn’t mean it’s God. Some of the largest churches in America are not walking in God’s blessing but in the deception of the enemy. Many have completely abandoned the idea of depending on God and His Spirit for instruction, guidance, and empowerment to build His church. Even if thousands of people show up every Sunday, that doesn’t mean it’s God. If a church contradicts His Word and His ways, then you will know for sure it has bought into the deception of doing Church independent of God.

Don’t be deceived Christian! When our dependence is upon self and our actions are based on our own will rather than God’s, we are walking into the devil’s trap. The devil doesn’t want us dependent on God, but wants us dependent upon ourselves, because he knows that will end in utter failure. Ask yourself if your dependence is upon God currently or upon yourself. Ask if the success or the hardship you are encountering is of God or of the enemy. Make God your only dependency and ask Him to direct your steps out of the web of deceit. Don’t turn a blind eye to your lack of dependency upon God, but confess it, repent of it, and ask God to become the only one you depend on.

“When programs, methods, and money produce impressive results, there is an inclination to confuse human success with divine blessing. Christians can actually behave like practical humanists, living as if God were not necessary. When that happens, passionate longing for God and yearning for His help will be missing—along with His empowerment.” – John MacArthur Jr. –
