Daniel 3:16-18

Daniel 3:16-18 (ESV):16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”

How quickly man forgets the redeeming power of our God. How many times must He demonstrate His sovereign authority before we stop doubting Him? Lord, help us!

After calling Yahweh “the God of all gods,” Nebuchadnezzar proceeded to make a statue to worship. How ironic! Nevertheless, the king made the image and required everyone in Babylon to worship it at the sound of the horns and bagpipes. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow the knee, even after being told they would be thrown into the fiery furnace. They stood their ground and demonstrated their allegiance to Yahweh. They were willing to lose their lives for their faith.

Would you stand your ground in allegiance to Christ if your life were on the line? If you truly love God as you ought, you would. The depth of your relationship with Jesus will determine your response. Doubt is destroyed by belief. The more you know God, the less doubt you will have. So dive deep into His presence, walk firm in His strength, and watch your resolve become unbreakable. It’s not enough to know about Jesus—you must know Him! And the more you do, the less you will doubt. Amen?

Father, You are our sovereign God and are able to deliver us from every foe. Strengthen our resolve and allegiance to You, that we might not doubt when trouble comes. We pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
