Deuteronomy 2:7 (ESV): “7 For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He knows your going through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.”
The wilderness can feel like a dry and lonely place. Yet we know that God is with us. He uses the desert as a place of testing, to draw us closer to Him. Look for His presence as you wander and you will find God to be faithful. Even when it doesn't feel like it.
Moses reminds the children of Israel of the faithfulness of God as they prepare to enter the Promised Land. God was faithful to this nation before it even began. He promised Abraham that his descendants would inhabit Canaan after 400 years of slavery in Egypt. God is proving Himself faithful. He was with them day and night in the wilderness. They didn’t lack anything. He provided and preserved them so much so that none of their clothes or sandals wore out over this forty-year wander (Dt 29:5).
Are you walking through the wilderness today? Cling to the Lord. He is with You. He is using this experience to shape and change you. Never allow the false narrative that God has abandoned you to taint your heart and mind. He has not and will not! He provides and protects us in every season. Don’t murmur and complain in the wilderness, worship and give Him praise. He is faithful!
Father, You are faithful in every season of our lives. May we give honor, glory, and praise in every season, especially the hard ones. Fill us with abundant joy today and teach us to appreciate every season of life we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
