Deuteronomy 29:18-19

Deuteronomy 29:18–19 (ESV): “18 Beware lest there be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe whose heart is turning away today from the Lord our God to go and serve the gods of those nations. Beware lest there be among you a root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit, 19 one who, when he hears the words of this sworn covenant, blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall be safe (at peace), though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.’ This will lead to the sweeping away of moist and dry alike.”

True peace comes from a right relationship with God. If you are walking away from Him, you will not have true peace. Beware lest you deceive yourself into thinking you have true peace outside of the will of God.

The Lord told the nation of Israel that peace is the fruit of a right relationship with Him. Those who say they have peace but are walking away from God are delusional. It is impossible to walk away from God and have true peace. This road will lead to a place of complete unrest and eternal damnation for those who refuse to repent. The Lord exhorts the nation of Israel to follow Him and receive true peace.

Are you “at peace” outside of the will of God? Know this, your peace is an illusion. God will never allow a person to sense His peace when they are outside of His will. He convicts us of our sins so that we repent. Don't fool yourself, friend. If you are outside of Christ you will never have true peace. NO Jesus, NO peace. Know Jesus, know peace! He is the only way to true peace. Amen?

Father, we thank You for guiding us to the place of perfect peace. Help us to never feel at peace when we stray. Draw us back if we are outside of Your will even now we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
