Ezekiel 22:15-16

Ezekiel 22:15-16 (ESV): 15 I will scatter you among the nations and disperse you through the countries, and I will consume your uncleanness out of you. 16 And you shall be profaned by your own doing in the sight of the nations, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”

It’s no small thing to be a representative of the Most High God. The responsibility is serious, and the consequences of misrepresenting Him are weighty. Represent Him well.

Ezekiel declared severe judgment upon Israel because of her idolatry and wickedness. They were called to be a light to the nations so the world could see Yahweh, but instead they became darkened by sin and misrepresented Him. The Babylonian captivity was only a foreshadowing of the far greater judgment that will come upon Israel during the Tribulation period. This will be God’s final effort to turn the nation back to Himself so they can fulfill their calling and shine as a light to the nations.

Did you know that if you are a Christian, you are God’s representative today? He has chosen the church to declare His goodness and grace in this present age. We must take this calling seriously as His ambassadors. Examine your life—are you representing light or darkness? If you find yourself drifting off course, repent and return to God before He has to get your attention more forcefully. The days are evil, and we are His light, so shine brightly! Amen?

Father, we thank You for reminding us of our responsibility to represent You well in this present age. We know the day is coming when You will once again turn Your attention fully to Israel. Until then, help us to remain faithful and shine brightly as Your witnesses. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
