Isaiah 10:12 (ESV): “When the Lord has finished all his work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, he will punish the speech of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the boastful look in his eyes.”
Nothing in life happens by accident. Every event and circumstance has a purpose. God has a plan, and He both permits evil and orchestrates good to fulfill His divine purposes. You can rest in Him!
Isaiah begins to prophesy about the downfall of the Assyrians. God had used them as an instrument to protect Judah from Israel and Syria, but they had become arrogant. The Lord would humble them by overthrowing their kingdom—but not until He had accomplished all that He intended through them. Solomon put it well: “The Lord works out everything to his own ends—even the wicked for a day of disaster”(Proverbs 16:4, NIV).
How do you respond to world events and personal hardships? Do you panic—or do you trust Him? Maybe the honest answer is, “a little of both.” But know this: you can trust God. No matter how painful or difficult the situation, He is with you. He is working out His plan for your life. But you’ll never recognize it unless your eyes are on Him. So give Him your anxieties and troubles. He will strengthen you through life’s storms. He’s got a plan! Amen?
Father, thank You that You are at work in all things for Your glory and our good. Nothing is outside of Your control. Help us to trust You always. Do whatever it takes to receive glory from our lives, and strengthen us through the process. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
