Isaiah 38:4-6

Isaiah 38:4-6 (ESV):  “4 Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: 5 “Go and say to Hezekiah, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life. 6 I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and will defend this city.”

God responds to the faith of a praying saint. However, it’s not faith that ultimately causes God to move—it’s His will. Should we pray with faith? Yes! But we must also trust in His will.

Isaiah records a miracle for us here. King Hezekiah was told by God that his time had come. He was to set his house in order, for he was about to die. The sickness God allowed in his life would take his life. But rather than accept this fate, Hezekiah prayed and invited God into his circumstances. God heard his prayer, saw his tears, and, in mercy, granted him fifteen more years of life. What would have happened had he not prayed?

Do you take your troubles to God in prayer? When we pray, we declare our faith in God and affirm that we believe He is a God of mercy. What matters most for you and me is to walk by faith. If God chooses to heal or extend our lives as a result, then praise God! If not, we still leave this earth having placed our full dependence on Him.

Take your troubles to the throne of grace by faith, and make your request known to God. Then trust that He will answer according to His perfect will. Amen?

Father, we believe You for the miraculous. We pray even now that You would meet us in our troubles in a supernatural way. You are a good God, and we trust You to accomplish Your will so that You alone would receive the glory. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
