Judges 2:3

Judges 2:3 (ESV): 3 So now I say, I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.”

The danger of not driving the enemy out of your land is that he will rebuild and become stronger against you. Obey God and get the enemy out of your life lest he gain a foothold. You will be blessed for doing so.

As the twelve tribes were preparing to inhabit the land, one common theme prevailed, “they did not drive out the inhabitants.” The Lord commanded them to make no covenant with the enemy and to break down their altars. The children of Israel did not obey. Thus the Angel of the Lord, who is Jesus, appeared to them and declared that because they didn't obey the Lord their enemies would now become thorns in their flesh and their gods would be a snare. It

didn't have to be this way.

Have you given the enemy a foothold in your life? We do so by allowing him to occupy the land of our hearts. We need to kick the devil to the curb and give him no opportunity to take up residence within us (Eph 4:27). Submit yourself to God and resist the devil and he will flee (Ja 4:7). Put on the whole armor of guard so you can stand against the enemy (Eph 6:10). It's time we obey the Lord and start living the blessed life! Amen?

Father, forgive us for not following your command to clear out the land of our hearts. Holy Spirit, show us where we have allowed the enemy to occupy and give us strength and wisdom to remove him we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
