Matthew 28:18-20

Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV): “18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””

The Great Commission is every believer’s mission. We are to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to observe all that Jesus has commanded us. It is a privilege to do so, not a chore!

After Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to the disciples, they worshiped Him, though some doubted. Then Jesus commissioned them to go into all the world and make disciples. That means they were to evangelize, disciple, and teach others just as Jesus had done for them. They were also to baptize those who came to faith. These are not just pastoral responsibilities; they are the responsibility of all believers and the mission of the church.

Are you on mission, Christian? Are you actively engaged in sharing the Gospel and discipling those who have come to Christ? It is not enough to simply share social media posts, folks. We should be having real conversations with those around us about heaven and hell, forgiveness and condemnation, life and death. Every believer should be involved in the work of making disciples, helping others follow Jesus, and pointing them toward obedience, including baptism. Never forget, these are things we get to do, not things we have to do. Amen?

Father, send us in might and power to declare the great news of Your Son. He was buried, and He rose from the dead for us! That is a story worth sharing. Give us opportunities, and may we be found faithful. In Jesus’ name, amen.
