Numbers 1:17-19

Numbers 1:17–19 (ESV): “17 Moses and Aaron took these men who had been named, 18 and on the first day of the second month, they assembled the whole congregation together, who registered themselves by clans, by fathers’ houses, according to the number of names from twenty years old and upward, head by head, 19 as the Lord commanded Moses. So he listed them in the wilderness of Sinai.”

The strength of a nation lies within the individual families of that nation.   If the family unit is weak and broken, the nation will be weak and broken.  God is faithful to reveal the strength of a nation by revealing the strength of the individual family unit.

Moses was instructed by God to take a census of the people.  All males twenty and older were to be numbered as soldiers.  The clans were to be counted according to their armies.  They were preparing for war.  The battle was already won and the land would be delivered to them by God.  Nevertheless, it would be important for the nation of Israel to know its strength by counting the individual families.  This is what would make and keep this nation great before the Lord.

Have you considered the strength of our nation in this way?  We are weakening daily because the family unit is being torn down.  This is a direct result of turning our backs on God nationally. The family unit is being destroyed in our country.  The enemy is raping our young people because there is a lack of male leadership in the home. One in four children in our nation are growing up in a home where the father is absent. Our nation has abandoned God’s design and we are weak as a result.  Don't be part of the stats.  Men, lead your families.  Ladies, follow your husbands.  Children obey your parents. This is God’s design and the means to a strong nation.

Father, we can do nothing apart from you. Convict our hearts to walk by Your Word and surrender to Your Spirit.  We don't look to a political leader, we look to You.  Make our nation great through Your design we pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
