Psalm 104:33–34 (ESV): “33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being. 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.”
Life is full of mountaintop moments and valley-low sorrows. Our response, either way, should be one of singing and meditating on the Lord. He is our constant, and we can trust in Him through it all. Keep your eyes on Jesus!
The psalmist, whom most believe to be David, declares an unwavering commitment in this psalm to praise God always. This is not merely an emotional response but a posture of the heart driven by the meditations of the mind. We are what we think. As Paul writes in Philippians 4:8 (ESV): “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Do you reserve your praise for the good times, or do you sing even in the storms? Do you fear the waves, or do you trust that God is faithful and will see you through? Our meditations determine how we respond because our minds shape our hearts. When we choose to meditate on His love, power, and promises, our perspective shifts. Worry is replaced by peace, and sorrow turns into joy. This is how you praise Him in all seasons of life—you make Him the meditation of your life, no matter the season.
Father, all praise and glory be to You. I choose to worship You with my life right now, in the middle of all the madness. Help my mind to be fixed on You so that my life can sing praises always. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
