Psalm 150:6 (ESV): “6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!”
God, as Creator, is worthy of praise. Before He does anything in our lives, He already deserves our adoration and exaltation. The fact that He works on our behalf is even more reason to praise Him. Use the breath He has given you to make known to all that He is worthy of all praise.
The word “praise” in Hebrew is Hallelujah, a compound word (Hallel—to praise, Yah/Jah—the Lord), meaning “praise the Lord.” The last five psalms serve as a doxology of praise, which is fitting because our God is truly worthy of all worship. The psalmist declares that everyone who has breath should praise Him. Notice that this command has nothing to do with our circumstances. He is worthy of our praise in every season. Thus, let everything that has breath praise Him!
Take a deep breath. Now, meditate on the fact that God has just given you that breath. You get to choose what you do with it. Will you use it to dishonor the Lord, or will you use it to exalt Him? He is worthy of the latter. If we have breath in our lungs, we have a reason to glorify Him. No matter what season we’re in—whether life is going great or we’re struggling—God is still worthy of our praise. So give it to Him! Amen?
Father, we thank You for being our God. You are far more glorious than words can describe. May our hearts declare Your worth—not just through our lips, but through our lives. We give You glory with every breath. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
