Psalm 84:1-2

Writer's picture: Tim RomeroTim Romero

Psalm 84:1–2 (ESV):1  How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! 2  My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.”

Every believer holds a “blessed hope” in their heart—the promise of Jesus’ return. When He comes, He will bring us home to be with Him forever in heaven. His presence is what makes heaven truly wonderful.

The sons of Korah, descendants of the rebellious Korah, were Levites who served as worship leaders during David’s time. They wrote this beautiful psalm about being in God’s presence. Their hearts were fixed on eternity, captivated by the wonder of heaven. To them, heaven wasn’t special because of its features but because of God’s presence. They longed deeply to be with the Lord.

Are you ready to see Jesus face to face? Does that thought fill you with joy? It should! C.S. Lewis once said, “If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.” Christian, God has placed eternity in your heart—the hope of being with Him forever. Let this truth fill your thoughts. This world is not our home. Stay focused on eternity—it’s closer than you think!

Father, thank You for placing eternity in our hearts. We eagerly await Your Son’s return and the day we’ll be in Your presence forever. Until then, help us find satisfaction in these truths and keep our eyes fixed on what is to come. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
