Ruth 4:14-15

Ruth 4:14–15 (ESV): 14 Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a redeemer, and may his name be renowned in Israel! 15 He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.”

God was not willing for His creation to stay in a state of depravity, so He did the unthinkable. He sent Jesus to be our Kinsmen's Redeemer. By His sacrifice on the Cross, we can be saved! Praise God.

Boaz was the second in line to redeem the lineage of Elimelech, the husband of Naomi. When he and his sons died it left Naomi alone with her two Moabite daughter-in-laws. Orpah returned home but Ruth stayed by Naomi’s side. Because of a famine in the land, Naomi and Ruth returned from Moab to Bethlehem. It was here that Ruth met Boaz, her Kinsmen Redeemer. Boaz saved Elimelech’s heritage by purchasing his land, marrying Ruth, his daughter-in-law, and caring for his wife Naomi. This was the role of a Kinsmen Redeemer.

Did you know Jesus is our Kinsmen Redeemer? God sent His Son to intervene in our time of trouble. We had a debt we could not pay so Jesus stepped in and paid the price for us. God saw you and me much like Boaz saw Naomi and Ruth and knew our only hope was Jesus. Your debt has been satisfied in Jesus. One receives this redemption when we put our faith in the Kinsmen Redeemer! What a Savior we have in Jesus! Amen?

Father, thank You for redeeming us from a debt we could not pay. May we walk in humility and gratitude all the days of our lives and give You praise for all that You’ve done, we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
