Numbers 16:32-33

Numbers 16:32–33 (ESV): “32 And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the people who belonged to Korah and all their goods. 33 So they and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol, and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly.”

Anyone can say they belong to God, but that doesn’t mean that they do. The proof is found not in you knowing God, but in God knowing you. Those who are His will not be put to shame!

Korah was a descendant of Kohath, making him a cousin to Moses and Aaron. He was jealous of these brothers so he swayed two hundred and fifty chiefs of Israel and brought accusations against God’s elect. Humbling himself, Moses fell on his face and said, “In the morning the Lord will show who is his, who is holy, and will bring him near to him.” The next day Korah, Nathan, and Abiram and their camps were swallowed up by the earth. Then God’s holy fire came upon the two hundred and fifty chiefs and consumed them. God revealed to everyone present who was His and who was not.

Did you know God finds no pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ez 33:11)? He desires that all would have life and that more abundantly (Deut 30:19; Jn 10:10). Rather than bringing accusations against God’s chosen, why not join them? He has given you the right to become a child of God through spiritual adoption (Jn 1:12). Jesus paid the price, we simply just yield ourselves to His lordship and are adopted into the family. Don’t just say you are His, truly become His by confessing Jesus as Lord and believing He rose again from the dead (Ro 10:9). His arms are wide open, what are you waiting for?

Father, You are just in all Your ways. All will stand before You and give an account. May we be found as one of Yours not by name but by adoption. Lead all those reading this to Your Son even now we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
